Charles “Charley” Farnum Black, Jr.

Mr. Charles “Charley” Farnum Black, Jr., 71, of Albany, peacefully passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 7, 2023, in the Riverside Cemetery with Rev. Donnie Duncan officiating. The family will visit with friends one hour before the service at the cemetery.

Born August 20, 1951, in Albany, Charley was the son of the late Charles Farnum Black, Sr. and Dorothy Tanner Black. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and retired with over 20 years of faithful service. He was a member of The VFW of Albany, was a real estate broker, owned his own trucking company and retired from civil service at the Marine Logistics Base of Albany. Mr. Black was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and managed plantations in the area. He enjoyed training dogs and had even trained in North Dakota for a period of time. Charley was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Sylvester for many years where he volunteered on the security team. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend he will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Tina Sanders Black; children, Rhonda Black Arrnett and Rusty of Arabi, Dorothy Black Smith and Darren of Warwick, Brandi Williams and Bernard of Albany, and Brody Shaw and Cassey of Albany; sister, Ferby Black Baird and Rick of Cuthand, TX; brothers, Bert Black and Sybil of Albany, and Peter Black of Albany; grandchildren, Lakyn Arrnett, Alexis Estes, Logan Arrnett, Thomas Estes and his wife, Aurora, Chase Smith, Kelcei Shaw, and Gage Shaw; and one great-granddaughter, Madilyn Lundy.
