Dr. William "Bill" Quincy Ward

March 17, 1924 — February 21, 2024

Dr. William “Bill” Quincy Ward passed away peacefully in his home at Danberry Inverness Feb. 21. in Birmingham, Ala., at the age of 99, surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held March 16 at 2:30 p.m. at the Riverside Cemetery in Albany, Georgia, for friends and family.


Dr. Ward is survived by his son, Robert Tyson Ward; his wife, Cathy Rodgers Ward; two daughters, Beth Ward Dillard and Patricia Anne Pace; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.


He is preceded in death by his wife, Janet Brown of Belleair Beach, Fla., his son, Stephen Quincy Ward of Santa Monica, Calif. and his brother, Jack Ward, of Jacksonville Beach, Fla. William “Bill” was born March 17, 1924, in Albany, Georgia, to Viva Atwater and Joseph Quincy Ward.

He graduated from Albany High School and went on to attend Emory School of Medicine. He was board certified in internal medicine and later attended Johns Hopkins University to be board certified in dermatology.

He became a faculty member of the University of Alabama in Birmingham. On retirement, he and his wife Janet moved to Belleair Beach, Fla., where they enjoyed their piece of paradise on the water.

They didn’t stop there, enjoying traveling the world with the goal of visiting, photographing and bird watching on every continent.

Hall and Hall Funeral Home of Albany, GA was given the honor to serve Dr. Ward's family.
