Mr. Edward “Ed” Lee Harrison, 88, of Worth County, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, April 13, 2023.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 16, 2023, in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends one hour before the funeral. Mr. Harrison will be laid to rest at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023, in Andersonville National Cemetery with military honors. Rev. Mylan Brookins and Rev. Robert Beverly will officiate.
Born January 4, 1935, in Poughkeepsie, AR, Mr. Harrison was the son of the late Charlie Harrison and Virgie Brandon Harrison. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force and in 1971 opened Harrison Mobile Home Transport which he owned and operated for many years. He was a talented inventor of a special type of hydraulic lift that was very helpful in his business, and it was often said by those who knew Ed that he was an engineer without a college degree. He was a faithful member for over 17 years of the former Sylvester Lighthouse Church of God where he served in many capacities of the church. The family thought of Ed as being much like the son of David, King Solomon. He had discernment for good and evil and had great wisdom. Ed loved God and his family more than anything, and through his wisdom was able to build four houses for his family. In his free time, he enjoyed playing his guitar and singing karaoke. He also had an eye for art and loved woodworking including chain saw art of bears, eagles, and owls. He welded many things and enjoyed restoring antique tractors, antique hit and miss motors, and old bicycles. Ed was known as “Ole Man” and Uncle Papa to many and will be greatly missed by all. Fly High like an eagle, our Air Force Veteran, you have fought a good fight, you have finished the course, you have kept the faith.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his 7-year-old son, Scotty Harrison and 7 siblings.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 50 years, Meg Harrison of Worth County; children, Maria Harrison Diaz and Hector of Albany, Mark Harrison and Tammy of Albany, Sonny Petty and Michelle of Murfreesboro, TN and brother-in-law that was more like a son, R.W. Price and Patsy of Worth County; sister, Lou Poskey of Sulphur Rock, AR; brother, Tommy Harrison of Worth County; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Brandon, AnnaGrace, Grant, Jennifer, and Kody; and Uncle Papa to Chase, Nikki, Angie, T.J. and many others he dearly loved.
