Gloria Popeita (Jackson) Baxter

March 14, 1946 — December 24, 2014

Mrs. Gloria Popeita Baxter, 68, of Albany, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at her home. A memorial service celebrating Gloria’s life will be conducted at 6:30 p.m., Monday, December 29, 2014 in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home. Rev. Matt Stone will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Born March 14, 1946 in Hickox, Georgia, Gloria adored her grandmother, Alice Highsmith, and most of her childhood happy memories were of time spent growing up on her grandparents’ farm in Hickox. For many years, Gloria was an active business owner. Her last years were spent as a loving homemaker, centered around her husband and her yard. Her favorite time of the year was spring, when she could spend hours in her yard, planting flowers and making everything burst with color. She dreaded the wintertime, when she was forced to stay inside, instead of sitting on the back porch where she could watch the birds as they fed, bathed and played in her yard. Gloria was a woman who had a mind of her own, and she never minced words. She had a quiet faith in the Lord, and often reminded those around her of the higher power that had a bigger plan. Her family was the center her life and she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Gloria had a great love for her two dogs, Sissy and Peaches. Survivors include her loving husband, Dale Baxter of Albany; son, Kevin Baxter (Allison) of Enterprise, AL; daughter, Patti Tito (Jeffrey) of Kinshasa, D.R.C; sisters, Sharon Groemminger (Marty) of Cleveland, GA. and Deniece McBride (Dale) of Layton, Utah; grandchildren, Alicia Boswell PerezFondeur (Ernesto) of Houston, TX, Kelsey Nichole Boswell of Lexington, KY and Elliott Baxter of Enterprise, AL. You may express your condolences to the family by visiting Hall and Hall Funeral Home’s web site at www.hallandhallfuneralhome.com.
