Mr. Alfred S. Gladney, 70, of Albany, passed away at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. A memorial service honoring his life will be conducted on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home in Albany, GA.
Alfred Gladney was born in Kentucky on January 18, 1953, to the late Alfred S. Gladney Sr. and Fanny Jo Baskin Gladney. Mr. Gladney served in the US Army and retired from USMC Logistic Base in Albany as a Mechanic Shop Supervisor. Mr. Gladney survived cancer himself while losing two wives to cancer. Alfred was a dedicated U.S. Civil War Re-enactment Participant in the 2nd GA Artillery and the 4th GA Infantry for many years. He loved camping and fishing at Lake Eufaula and took his family there many times. He was known to be a very hard working and devoted man who was “brutally honest”. Mr. Gladney was a Saved Christian who was also a loving Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather.
Those left to cherish his memory are; his daughters, Jessica Harper (Mark) of Weirsdale, FL, and Katrina Wheeler of West Palm Beach, Fl; his sons Michael Goings (LaQueeta) of Albany, Alfred S. Gladney (Candace) of Cordele, and Shay Godboldt (Brooksie) of Cumberland City, TN; his sister Eva Jo LaPorte (Greer) of Cordele; his brothers Gary Gladney (Tracy) of Cordele and Mike Gladney of AL; his thirteen grandchildren; and his six great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the memorial service.
