Mrs. Anna Belle Newton, 92, died May 27, 2014 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Americus, GA. She was born in Pleasureville, KY on November 6, 1921. Mrs. Newton was a dedicated 30 year employee of General Electric Corporation in Louisville, KY, and retired in 1975. She moved to Albany, GA in 1996 to be closer to her immediate family. She was very active in her church, Albany Christian Church, and loved her church family dearly. Mrs. Newton’s husband was P.O.W. in Germany during World War 2, which led her to be a dedicated supporter of veteran’s groups. She was a member of American Legion Post 30, Ladies Auxiliary Post 30 (Life Member), Southwest GA P.O.W.’s, The D.A.V., Mended Hearts, and Kentucky Colonels. Mrs. Newton was one of the most loving, caring, and compassionate ladies, that the good Lord ever put on this earth. She dearly loved her family and friends, with never a harsh word to say about anyone. She genuinely cared about everyone, and would be the first to offer help during a time of need. Mrs. Newton was preceded in death by her husband, James Marion Newton, and her son, Arthur Austin Whisman, Jr. She is survived by a daughter, Katherine Hardison and husband Charles W. Hardison, daughter-in-law Kathleen Whisman, granddaughter Jackie Hicks and husband Jeff Hicks, great granddaughter Katie Hicks, grandson Charles Allen Hardison and wife Cari. A memorial service will be conducted by Pastor Chris Hill on Saturday May 31, 2014, at 11:00 AM, at Albany Christian Church, 1501 Whispering Pines Rd., Albany, GA 31707.
