Barbara Ann Kirkland

Mrs. Barbara Ann Kirkland, 72, of Leary, passed away on Monday, May 27 2019. The family will hold a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Providence Church in Albany, with the Reverend Preston Wilson officiating. Barbara was born on January 6, 1947, in Calhoun County to the late Sylvester and Lillian Griffin. She was a selfless woman who enjoyed caring for others and cared for her mother and father for many years during their extended illnesses. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren, and was considered the “rock” of the family. She was a member of the L.O.B.C. or “Leary Old Bitty Committee” as her and her friends referred to it, they were a group of friends who enjoyed spending time and doing almost everything together. Barbara was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley “Jeanie” McGinnis of Leary; brother, Roger Griffin of Albany; grandchildren, Stephanie Lane (Ronnie) of Leary, and Rebekah Everson of Perry; great grandchildren, Gavin Lane, Lauryn Lane, Kaleb Everson, Darian James; and a host of extended family and friends.
