Brenda Mathieu

Mrs. Brenda Chatelain Mathieu, 76, of Albany, peacefully passed away at her home on Sunday, October 9, 2022.

A funeral mass will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at St. Teresa's Catholic Church with Reverend Ray Levreault officiating. She will be laid to rest at Bayou Rouge Baptist Cemetery in Evergreen, LA.

Born October 5, 1946, in Alexandria, LA, Mrs. Mathieu was the daughter of the late Caleb and Pauline Normand Chatelain. She was a loving homemaker who was a proud Marine military wife. She supported her husband and children in the many places they moved during time spent in the service. She enjoyed reading, cooking, but most of all loved God and her family. Brenda was a devout Catholic and loved St. Teresa's Catholic church where she faithfully attended for many years and enjoyed volunteering in the soup kitchen.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Eddie Descant and her brother, Perry Chatelain.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Marvin "Bo" Mathieu; daughters, Nicole Purvis of Evergreen, LA, and Rebecca Richard of Albany; grandchildren, Jordan, Jarod, Mollie, Charlie, Alexis, and Michael, Jr.; and 3 great-grandchildren, Caden, Jordyn Claire, and Jackson.

The family will visit with friends one hour before the funeral at the church.
