Mrs. Cecilia Theresa Koestler, 87, of Albany, passed away Friday, August 29, 2014. The funeral mass will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church. A wake service will be held Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. with visitation following until 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home. Born August 8, 1927, Mrs. Koestler was the daughter of the late Henry Carpenter and Theresa Wozniak Carpenter. In her younger days Mrs. Koestler enjoyed going to the beach with her school friends and loved dancing, especially polkas. It was one of the joys of her life to go to Oktoberfest celebrations and she was a 1945 graduate of Norwich Free Academy. A very compassionate person, Mrs. Koestler was generous with charities and loved animals. She retired from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital where she worked in medical information services. She was a member of the Golden Key and before her declining health she was a faithful member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Koestler was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vincent D. Koestler; daughter Karen Ingram and sister, Arlene Bojarski. Survivors include her son and caregiver, Kurt Koestler of Albany, son, Mark Koestler; daughter, Aleta and John Hinman of Macon; one granddaughter, Megan Hinman of Macon and two nieces.
