Mr. Charles E. Sykes, 82, of Albany, passed away on November 7, 2011 at Palmyra Medical Centers in Albany. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 9, 2011 in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home. Reverend Carl Dunn will officiate with interment to follow in Floral Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until the funeral hour. Mr. Sykes was born on November 12, 1928 in Dover, TN, son of the late Thomas G. Sykes and Hattie Cox. He retired as a Chief Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force. He was a life member of the Air Force Association, was an avid golfer and was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-one years, Mrs. Gladys Scott Sykes; daughters and son-in-law, Susan M. Diaz of Lansing, MI, Patricia A. (Donnie) Causey of Warwick and Nan Leeman of Lansing MI; sister, Nita Hewitt of Ypsilanti, MI; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sykes was preceded in death by his brother, Alvin Sykes and sister, Irma L. Bagwell. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Disabled American Veterans.
