Charles B. Polk, 70, of Albany passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at his home. Funeral services honoring the life of Mr. Polk will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2008 at Springfield Baptist Church in Early County. Rev. Tony Haefs will officiate with interment to follow in the church cemetery with military honors. Charles B. Polk was born on February 7, 1939 to the late Ambrose Lee Polk and Annie Kate Sealy Polk. Mr. Polk served our country in the Air Force having served in the Vietnam Era and retiring after 20 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents his first wife, Mary Elizabeth Polk, preceded Mr. Polk in death. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie L. Polk of Albany; sons, Waylon Lamar Polk and his wife, Donna; daughter, Melissa Leigh Pitts and her husband Jack Pitts; step-son, Larry Clare, Jr.; step-daughter, Stephanie Dawn Thompson and her husband, Terry; brother, Jay Hallman Polk; sisters, Elizabeth Barron, Ann Gold and Gayle Lovell; and seven grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Hall and Hall Funeral Home.
