Mr. Clarence Leroy Pye, 91, of Sylvester, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016 at his home while surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Acree. Rev. Gary Hadden and Rev. Neal Hager will officiate with interment to follow at Floral Memory Gardens. Born October 5, 1924 in Cordele, Mr. Pye was the son of the late Robert and Florence Bush Pye. He served his country in the United States Navy and retired from civil service at the Marine Logistics Base in Albany. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. Mr. Pye was a member of First Baptist Church of Acree where he served as a deacon for many years, worked with the RA’s and youth. He was also a member of the Senior Men Sunday School Class since 1965. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pye was preceded in death by his two brothers, Jones “Jr.” Pye and Wade Pye. Survivors include his loving wife, Jean Pye of Sylvester; 3 daughters, Darlene Volkert, Mary Helen Edwards and Faye James Harting. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Georgia Baptist Children’s Home, 9420 Blackshear Hwy, Baxley, GA. 31513. Hall and Hall Funeral Home of Albany was given the honor to serve the Pye family.
