Doris Newell (Newell) Henderson

Mrs. Doris Newell Henderson, 70, of Albany, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at her home while surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 19, 2013 in the Chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Crosby and Rev. Hardy Crosby will officiate. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Albany. Born May 31, 1943 in Sylvester, Mrs. Henderson was the daughter of the late Daniel and Janie Newell. She was employed by the Dougherty County School system in the school cafeteria. Mrs. Henderson loved crocheting, doing crafts, and dancing. She also was known to have a “green thumb” with various plants and flowers. She loved being there for others in their time of need and she loved people and people loved her. Her greatest love was her children and she enjoyed cooking for her family where her motto was “the more, the merrier”. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Raymond Henderson. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Terry Ray and Vicky Henderson of Albany; daughters, Lisia Boycher of Leary and Vickie Thurman of Cumming; her brothers and sisters–in-law, Elvis Newell of Albany, Wendell and Jane Newell of Sylvester, Roy and Sandra Newell of Mitchell Co.; her sisters and brothers-in-law Ferrell and Clyde Higgs of Crystal River, FL, Carol and Charles Cox, and Faye and Sammy Calhoun all of Sylvester; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends this evening, Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Hall and Hall Funeral Home.
