Mrs. Emma Jean Smith, 74, of Lessburg, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 26, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 28, 2013 in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Leary Cemetery. Rev. Chris E. Turner will officiate. Born September 23, 1939, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Clarence and Pearl Maddox. She was a homemaker and member of Tops 245. She was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Riley Smith; two sisters, Doris Ingram and Joan Cranford and one brother, Jack Maddox. Survivors include her children, Cathy and Randy Jackson of Leary, Artie Hayslip of Leesburg, Suzanne and Rick Wheeler of Leesburg, Vickie and Jerry Johnson of Lessburg and Franklin Smith of Waycross; grandchildren, Erik Etheridge, Ashley and Anthony Bates, Christopher and Amanda Wheeler, April Wheeler and Jessica Johnson; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Vercruysse, Lilly Bates and Callie Bates; brother, Hue and Connie Maddox and Pat Clements all of Cordele; sister, Joyce G. Reed also of Cordele. The family will be at the home of Vickie and Jerry Johnson at 877 Lovers Lane Road Leesburg, GA. 31763. Visitation will be Friday, December 27, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hall and Hall Funeral Home.
