Eugene Hammack

Mr. Eugene Hammack, 86, of Fitzgerald and formerly of Albany, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Wilson Hospice House in Albany. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 9, 2012 at the graveside of Riverside Cemetery. Born March 22, 1925 in Cuthbert, Mr. Hammack was the son of the late Lon C. Hammack and Lizzie Till Hammack. He retried with over 30 years as a truck driver with Carolina Freight. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. Mr. Hammack was Baptist by faith. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hammack was preceded in death by three children, Gary Hammack, Shirleen Bryan and Allen Wayne Hammack. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Busbin of Fitzgerald; son, Marvin Eugene and Sandra Hammack of Gray; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen and James Braswell; a close step-daughter, Mary Cathy Suggs of Albany; 8 other step-children; a “truckload” of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
