George Franklin Jones

Mr. George Franklin Jones, 80, of Thomaston, passed away, Friday, January 16, 2015 at Upson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Mount Hope Baptist Church 1170 Phillips Rd. Warm Springs, GA. 31830. His grandson, Rev. Joseph W. Jones will officiate with interment to follow in the Mount Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Born March 14, 1934 in Meriwether County, Mr. Jones was the son of the late Joseph and Mattie Jones. He had worked for the Warm Springs Foundation in Warm Springs, Sunnyland Farms in Albany for several years while living there and later worked for Wood Craft in Greenville, GA. He enjoyed working as a mechanic and could fix most anything. He especially enjoyed working on lawn mowers until his health declined. He had a great love for fishing and enjoyed going to auctions. Often he spent his time with family and friends sharing jokes and happy memories of days gone by. He was of the Pentecostal faith and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Ruby Jones of Thomaston; daughters, Debbie Sue Jones of Manchester, Vickie and Dr. Henry Rutledge of Los Angeles, CA. and Nancy Elaine Jones of Sylvester, his first wife and the mother of this daughters, Mary Inez Jones of Manchester; step-son, Gene and Debra Phillips of Thomaston; step daughter, Audrey and John Phillips of Thomaston; mother-in-law, Ruby R Teal of Thomaston; special friend, Tina Higner and her family; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Mount Hope Baptist Church from 12:30 until the funeral hour.
