Greeley Winfield Carney

March 21, 1934 — February 4, 2022

Mr. Greeley Winfield Carney, 87, and longtime resident of Mitchell County, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Services are pending and arrangements will be announced later. Born March 21, 1934, in Jasper, GA, he was the son of the late Otis Carney and Clara Richard Atnip. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force and later went to work for General Motors where he retired after 30 years. Mr. Carney loved being outdoors and made sure to go for a morning walk every single day he was able. He could always be found outside either working in his yard, cementing, or wood working and making bird houses. He loved the game of golf, was an excellent ping pong player, an old school horseshoe player, skilled at dominos and shuffleboard, and simply enjoyed doing life. A beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he will be greatly missed by all. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Arnold Carney. Survivors include his children, Aaron Carney (Debbie) of Albany, Lionel Carney (Sandy) of Clarksville, TN, and Gina Wiseman (Paul) of Tallahassee, FL; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Hall and Hall Funeral Home was given the honor to serve the Carney family. Hall and Hall Funeral Home Albany, GA 229-883-3864
