Mr. Harvey Gene Jordan, 74, of Sylvester, passed away, Friday, March 23, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Liberty Parkway Church of God. Pastor Ralph Horne and Pastor Milton H. Pate, Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow in the Leesburg Cemetery. Born November 28, 1937 in Early County, Mr. Jordan was the son of the late Johnny William “Hoke” Jordan and Vera Williams Jordan. He served his country in the United States Army and retired from Flint River Textile. He and his wife, owned and operated Florence’s Flower’s and Gifts for over twenty-five years. Hunting, fishing and gardening were among some of the things most enjoyed in his life. Mr. Harvey was a member of Liberty Parkway Church of God and he will be remembered as a man who loved the Lord. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jordan was preceded in death by his two sons, Thomas Jordan and Harvey Jordan, Jr. and one sister, Ruby Jane Jordan. Survivors include his loving wife, Florence Taylor Jordan; daughters and sons-in-law, Debra Pate and Rev. Milton Pate of Broxton and Melody Steedley and Verl Steedley of Sylvester; grandchildren, Shannon Jordan, Milton and Rebecca Pate, Jordan Steedley, Taylor Steedley, Eric Steedley and Lacey Jordan; three great-grandsons; brother, Ray Jordan and Roberta of Blakley; sisters, Geraldine Thrasher and Bob of Albany and Barbara Faye Jordan of Blakley. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Liberty Parkway Church of God.
