Mr. Hugh Dexter Smith, 75, of Albany, passed away Sunday morning with his family at his side. Funeral services honoring the life of Mr. Smith will be conducted at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 24th in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home. Reverend Phil Mills will officiate and a graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 26th at 3:00 p.m.nbsp;in Nashville , TN. Born on July 7, 1935 in Forrest , Mississippi , Mr. Smith was the son of the late Ernest C. Smith and Effie Hedgepath Smith. He served his country in the Marines and retired from the Marine Logistics Base as a contract Specialist.nbsp; Mr. Smith served as a member of the USMC Honor Guard. He had a great interest in little league baseball and helped to establish the Minor League Program at the International Little League Baseball Park here in Albany .nbsp; Mr. Smith was an avid Georgia sports fan including collegiate and professional sports. Survivors include his wife, Glenda Holman Smith of Albany; sons, Keith (Jackqueline) Smith of Canton, GA, and Kevin (Pam) Smith of Monroe, GA; daughters, Karen (Jeff) Macy of Casper, WY and Sharon (Jim) Corbett of Albany; brothers, Charles (Kathy) Smith of Ripley, MS, Durand (Anne) Smith of Columbus, MS; sisters, Sarah (Jimmy) Emerson of Vancleave, MS and Nancy Robison also of Vancleave, MS; grandchildren, ENS Jeffry Macy II, Brandon Macy, Meaghan Macy, Kyle Macy, Melissa Smith, Mark Smith, Martin Dollar, Devin Smith, Cheyenne Smith, Cierra Smith, Marenda Smith andnbsp; Kella Smith; great-grandchildren, Jack Macy, Maddox Macy, Tanner Macy, Billy Hines, Landan Smith, Gabriel Taylor, Trenton Smith, Blaine Dollar and Brady Fearnow.
