Irene B. Strickland

Irene Bridges Strickland gently left with the angels at the age of 100 on July 24, 2021. Irene was a very giving and loving person. She was very generous to anyone in need --The Lord surely has a special seat for his faithful servant next to his throne. Sharp as a tack until the end, she loved listening to gospel music and reading the bible. Her favorite pastime was visiting with friends and family. She appreciated spending time with friends over a great meal with a slice of lemon pound cake. The simplest pleasures such as feeding chickens, ducks and fish, as well as caring for stray animals were her joy. Shorty, her stray dog was her loyal companion. She was preceded in death by her husband Wallace Strickland, son Jimmy Strickland, parents Julian and Leola Bridges, as well as siblings, Lola Mae Bridges, Felton Bridges, and Lois Shiver. Irene is survived by daughters, Kay Safer (Les) and Debbie Bishop (Monk); grandchildren, Kim Kimura (Kimo), Selina Corliss, Ginger Mitchell (Troy), Scott Martin (Tracey), and Eric Strickland; great-grandchildren, Kimo and Keili Kimura, Chad and Hunter Corliss, Cody, Kylie and Chase Martin, David, Aiden and Ethan Amburgey. A memorial service will be held at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 4007 Moultrie Rd. Albany, GA 31705 on August 7, 2021 at 2:00 PM.
