Mr. Ivey J. Willis Jr., 79, of Albany, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, December 3, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 5, 2013 in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home. Pastor Eddie Adams and Pastor Ralph Horne will officiate with interment to follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Grady County. Born April 9, 1934 in Cairo, Mr. Willis was the son of the late Ivey J. Willis, Sr. and the late Mamie Williamson Willis. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps, attended The University of Georgia for two years and also attended ABAC College in Tifton. He retired from ATT and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He had served as president of the CWA 3201 and was on the board of Dougherty County Advisory Committee. Mr. Willis was also a member of Liberty Parkway Church of God. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather that loved his family dearly. In addition to his parents, Mr. Willis was preceded in death by a son, Ivey J. Willis III and two sisters, Sandra Willis Smith and Bonnie Willis Cross. Survivors include his wife, Bernice Thompson Willis of Albany; daughters and sons-in-law, Jacinda and Tim Laing of Albany, Leanne and Dan Hines of Augusta and Gayla and Chris Mathis of Albany; grandchildren, Ivy, Hilary, Jamie, Christopher, Harber and Spencer and one sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Merrill Palmer of Pelham. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m., Thursday before the funeral service at Hall and Hall Funeral Home.
