Jackson Anderson 'Jack' Stone

April 30, 1941 — September 24, 2015

Mr. Jackson Jack Anderson Stone, Sr., 74, of Albany, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015 at his home while surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Sunnyside Baptist Church at 320 S. Mock Road Albany, GA. His grandson, Rev. Matthew Stone will officiate with interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Born April 30, 1941 in Meigs, Mr. Stone was son of the late Grady and Neda West Stone. He proudly served in the United States Army and served in one tour to Okinawa, Japan. Mr. Stone was known as having the sharpest pencil in town and was known as an icon in the car business having been co-owner and general manager at Albany Lincoln Mercury. Later on he founded Quick Auto Sales, Creekside Auto Sales and Creekside RV and Mobile Home Park. He proudly served Dougherty County as the district 6 County Commissioner for over 28 years. During those 28 dedicated years, Mr. Stone accomplished many things to greatly help his community. He fought courageously for the citizens of Dougherty County and his leadership will be greatly missed. He was a member of the Albany Chamber of Commerce and many other organizations in Albany and Dougherty County. In his spare time, Jack and his beloved wife enjoyed RV camping with their many friends, attending to his cows on the farm, dove shoots, fishing and most of all riding around with his dog, B.J. His family was his life and loving them and his community was the center focus of his being. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Mrs. Charlotte Dickerson Stone of Albany; two sons, Jack Stone, Jr. and Laura of Leesburg, Blair Stone and Melissa of Albany and daughter, Karen Swain of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; sister, Glenda Apaka and Ken of Warner Robins, GA; grandchildren, Ande Stone and Lexie Stone, Rev. Matthew (Ashley) Stone, Taylor (Travis) Henley, Mark Stone, Hannah Stone, McKenzie Stone, Shannon Hiott and Josh Dudney and 4 great-grandchildren, Savanna Stone, Lucus Dudney, Carson Stone and Brock Henley; nephew, Ken Apaka (Robin) of Leesburg and Jackie Cole (David) of Perry, GA. and their families. The family will receive friends this evening (Friday) from 6-8 p.m. at Hall Hall Funeral Home.
