James Lott

November 18, 1932 — March 10, 2009

James M. “Jim” Lott, 76, of Albany passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at his home. Funeral services honoring the life of Mr. Lott were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Salem Baptist Church in Worth County. Reverend Jackie Cabaniss, Reverend Ralph Simmons and Reverend Clyde Evans officiated, with interment following at Andersonville National Cemetery at 2:30 PM. Music was provided by Bill Durham and Missy Sanders. Scott Story, Scott Andrews, Don Shiver, Terrell Mock, Ernie Carter and Jack Knight served as active pallbearers. The Salem Baptist Church Deacons and Men of the Senior Adult Sunday School class served as Honorary Pallbearers. Born November 18, 1932 in Troy, AL, Mr. Lott was the son of the late James Emmett Lott and Melone Blair Lott. He was a retired veteren in the United States Air Force having served during the Vietnam Era and lived in Albany for over 40 years. Jim taught Middle School in Albany and Camilla and was a member and retired Minister of Music at Salem Baptist Church of Worth County. He worked at Hall and Hall funeral home as a funeral director’s assistant for five years. Jim as he was known by most was a man who seemed to never meet a stranger. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. In addition to his parents Mr. Lott was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Lott Glass. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Pansy Cooke Lott of Albany; son, Rick Lott and his wife, Marsha of Savannah; daughter, Pam Lunsford and her husband, Carl of Bainbridge; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family requested contributions to be made to the American Cancer Society at 323 Pine Ave. Albany, GA. 31701; Albany Community Hospice at 2332 Lake Park Dr. Albany, GA. 31707; or Salem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund at 902 Jewel Crowe Rd. Sylvester, GA. 31791.
