James Potter Jr

Mr. James Edwin Potter, Jr., 87, of Albany, passed away, Sunday, December 29, 2013 at his home while surrounded by his loving family. The family will have a visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2014 in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home. Born November 15, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY, Mr. Potter was the son of the late James Edwin Potter, Sr. and Helen Moritz Potter. A Navy Veteran, Mr. Potter served in World War Two in combat on the USS Houston CL-81. He was owner of Potter Motor Company of Albany and had been a Harley Davidson dealer for over 38 years. In addition, he was the Stihl, Snapper and Club Car distributor for Albany and was distinguished to be a member of the Ariens – Gravely Million Dollar Elite Club. Mr. Potter was a life member of The American Legion and the V. F. W. He enjoyed traveling all over the world and was an avid sailor, pilot and motorcycle enthusiast. He lived a meaningful and full life. His main joy in life was his family and he will be dearly missed by them all. In addition to his parents, Mr. Potter was preceded in death by his two sons, James and Jeffrey Potter; brother, Lindy Potter and sister, Mary Tedrick. Survivors include his wife, Darlene Patnaude of Albany; sons, Joe and Deborah Potter of Albany, William Potter and Elaina McAlpin of Leesburg, John Potter of Sylvester, Daniel Potter of Albany, David Potter of Leesburg; daughters, Laney Koulovatos of Atlanta, Jenny Potter of Charleston, S.C., Lauria and Tony Grift of Champaign, IL and Mary Potter also of Champaign, IL; Nephew, William Tedrick; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Mr. Potter’s honor to the American Legion, V.F.W. or to St. Teresa’s soup kitchen.
