Jean Carolyn Merritt, 75, of Albany, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at her home. Services honoring the life of Mrs. Merritt will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 16, 2010 in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home. Reverend Chris E. Turner and Reverend Penny Spence will officiate. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Andersonville National Cemetery. Jean Carolyn Merritt was born on April 16, 1934 in Irwin county to the late Clifford M. Ross and Maggie Harper Ross. Mrs. Merritt loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart and allowed this to be seen by the way she lived. She was a member of Lighthouse Ministries of Albany. Carolyn, as she was known by most, graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1951and attended Massey Business College in Jacksonville, FL. She worked at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany for over seven years and worked for over 32 years as a medical office administrator in Radiology Associates. In addition to her parents, her husband, Henry E. Merritt and her brother, Raymond Ross, preceded her in death. Survivors include her children, Sharon Merritt Pressley, her husband, William ldquo;Billrdquo;, of Albany, Edward Earl Merritt, his wife, Janet, of Pavo, Denise Merritt Hill, her husband, Mike, of Evans, Elaine Merritt Howard, her husband, Stan of Baconton; grandchildren, Jennifer Rape Wade, her husband, Shawn, of Sylvester, Joseph ldquo;Joeyrdquo; Rape,nbsp;nbsp; his wife, Amy, of Statesboro, Patricia Pressley of Albany, Pamela Merritt Barnes, her husband, Jr. of Leesburg, Christopher Merritt and his significant other, Stephen Patterson of Troy, AL, Vicki Merritt Dampier, her husband, Colin, of Pavo, Heather Denise Merritt of Phoenix, AZ, Jessica Leigh Merritt of Evans, Constance Elaine Hill of Rockford, IL, Brian Hill, his wife, Monique, of Okinawa, Japan, John Michael Howard, wife, Jessica, of Albany, Rita Howard Meacham of Tallahassee, FL, David Brent Howard andnbsp; Amanda of Baconton; 2 sisters, Vivian Barker of Brunswick and Faye Shealeynbsp; of Fitzgerald; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers-in-law, Leonard Merritt of St. Simons and James Merritt of Baconton; several nieces, nephews and her close church family; her daughters in love, Bridgette Cox, Reverend Penny Spence and Angel Johnson. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Hall and Hall Funeral Home.
