Joe William 'J.W.' Holden

Mr. Joe William “J.W.” Holden, 76, of Sylvester, passed away, Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Willson Hospice in Albany. Born April 26, 1937 in Pelham, GA., Mr. Holden was the son of the late William Byron Holden and the late Lillie Mae Burch Holden. He had worked as a truck driver for over fifty five years and had formerly been a supervisor with Ryder/P.I.E. Truck Lines. The past several years that he had worked was with UPS Freight of Tifton. Mr. Holden enjoyed the outdoors including working in his yard. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. In addition to his parents, Mr. Holden was preceded in death by his sister, Eyvonne Holden. Survivors include his wife, Sandee Holden of Sylvester; daughters, Sharon Holden Owens (Bobby) of Leesburg, Teresa Williams (Nolen) of Putney, Scarlett Hughes of Albany, Marnie Cooper (Scott) of Acworth; son, Joe William Holden Jr. of Albany; brother, John Dennis Holden (Margaret) of Atlanta; sisters, Elaine Lillis (Dennis) of Albany, Laverne McDonald (Jerry) of Leesburg; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A celebration of his life service will be held at a later date to be announced.
