Early in the afternoon of August 16, 2021, adored mother and grandmother Annie Joette Leel passed away at her home in Auburn, Georgia. She was surrounded by her family at the time of passing. Joette was born November 28, 1932, in Henry County, AL to the late Caroline Zorn Pace. She moved to Albany, GA when she was 11 years old. Joette lived in Albany for the next 72 years before moving to Auburn. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a gifted crafter who enjoyed sewing and crocheting personalized gifts for all her family and friends. Her positive attitude and grateful heart won the hearts of all those who were privileged to meet her, even in her final days. Joette was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Chatman; sister, Maureen Dyes, and her brother, Dan Brooks. She is survived by her children, Elma Daniel (Sean) of Monroe, Peggy Burtz (Greg) of Jasper, Donna Roper (Joey) of Ball Ground, Joe McCaffery of Ball Ground, Kathy Malpass of Ellijay, Ron Long (Carol) of Leesburg, Randy Long (Teda) of Abilene, Kansas; sister, Willene Mitchell of Jacksonville, Florida; 14 grandchildren; 18 great- grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild on the way. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Riverside Cemetery, in Albany, with her son, Rev. Ron Long officiating. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in the memory of Joette to the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org. Hall and Hall Funeral Home of Albany, GA has been given the honor to serve the Leel family.
