John Edwin Cox, Sr.

Mr. John Edwin Cox, Sr., 70, of Camilla, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Colquitt Regional Hospital, in Moultrie.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 23, 2024, in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home with Rev. Matt Stone officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Floral Memory Gardens.

Born December 21, 1953, in Albany, John was the son of the late Thomas and Doris Ramsey Cox. He worked as a mechanic for Berney’s Tire since 1983. He was a hard worker who loved The Lord and family most of all. He enjoyed boating, camping, hunting, and NASCAR racing. He enjoyed joking around and making others laugh. He attended First Baptist Church of Camilla and will be greatly missed. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kim Cox, and his sister, Leila Holton.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Billie J. Cox of Camilla; children, Linda Cox of Albany, and John Cox, Jr. of Putney; step-children, Clint Daugtry and Nikki of Sale City, and Deirdre Hurst and Kenny of Moultrie; 10 siblings, Jaunita Wynn and Charles of Fort Valley, Jerry Bouie of Albany, Pat Gore and Dennis of Putney, Mary Gore and James of Byron, Thomas Cox of Lynn Haven, FL, Betty Hester of Sylvester, April Nalley and Ken of Sylvester, Everett Cox and Bridgette of Albany, Alice Cox Carroll and John of Albany, and Robin Gwinn and Randy of Byron; 12 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
