John T. 'Jack' Powell

Mr. John T. “Jack” Powell, 80, of Albany, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, November 20, 2010. Funeral services honoring the life of Mr. Powell, will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Lighthouse Ministries, 2320 Liberty Expressway in Putney. Pastor Chris E. Turner and Reverend Perry Lamey will officiate and interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted at the Graveside. Born on July 1, 1930 in Orange, NJ, Mr. Powell was the son of the late, Alfred Peter Powell and Ann Reynolds Powell. He retired as a Marine and worked for many years after at the Marine Logistics Base in Production Control. Mr. Powell was a founding board member of Lighthouse Ministries and was a church trustee. He was on the Benevolence committee and active in the men’s fellowship up until his health declined. He loved his family and church family and will be greatly missed by all of them. Surely our loss is Heavens gain. He has fought a good fight, he has finished his course and he kept the faith. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Betty Joyce Hanna Powell of Albany; son, John T. Powell and wife, Melissa of Leesburg; daughters, Diane Rodriguez and husband, Bill of Orlando, FL, Kathy Anthony and husband, Tony of Albany and Barbara Akins and husband, Wesley of Warner Robins; brothers, AL and Tom; sisters, Nancy, Maureen and Tootsie; grandchildren, Crystal Rodriguez, Justin Rodriguez, and David Rodriguez and wife, Kimmie, Paul Anthony and wife, Leigha, Wormy Anthony and wife, Kimmie, Suzanne Huffman, Clint Powell and wife, Melanie, John Powell III and wife, Sarah, Blake Powell, Candi Powell, Bobby Powell and Teresa Allen; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Shelley, Anna Reagan, Jacob, Madeline, Hanna, Max, Camden Jack, Tanner, Dalton, Cullen, Zane, Zander, Jose, and Lois.
