Mr. John Thomas Welch, 84, of Albany, peacefully passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Born September 14, 1938, in Webster County, he was the son of the late Julia Mae Godwin. Mr. Welch worked as a machinist for Miller Brewing Company for many years until his retirement. In his free time, he enjoyed “wheeling and dealing” where he would buy old Ford trucks, completely rebuild them, and then sell them. He was a Ford man through and through and was passionate about buying and flipping trucks. A beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he will be greatly missed by all.

Along with his mother he was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Cantrell Welch, and his son, John Thomas Welch Jr. “Johnny.”

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Steven Welch of Pompano Beach, FL, Kathy Welch of Albany and her partner Mark Lalik who was a lifelong friend to John, and David Welch of Albany; 10 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, cousins, and extended family and friends.

Hall and Hall Funeral Home was given the honor to serve the Welch family.
