Mr. Lawrence Vernon Brown, 84, of Albany, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2020, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. The family will have a graveside service at Rosewood Memorial Park in Virginia Beach, VA. Due to the current health crisis, there will be no local visitation or service here. Born August 7, 1935, in Hyannis, Massachusetts, Mr. Brown was the son of the late Leslie and Lillian Keander Brown. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy where he retired. A proud veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars, he served as a member of the Strike Assault Boat Squadron 20 from December 1969 to October of 1970. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Albany. He was also a member of The Mayflower Decedents Association, Vietnam Gamewardens Association, and The Fleet Reserve Association. Mr. Brown was an avid golfer and enjoyed sports, and country music. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia Mais Brown; daughter, Valerie Joe Brown Yanke; grandson, Michael Yanke and sister, Glennyce Brown Nilsen. Survivors include his son, Rev. Michael Brown and his wife Tammy of Waycross; 5 grandchildren, Lawrence Yanke, Arianne Davis, Brittany Yanke, Allison Brown Wall, and Michael Justin Brown; 3 great-grandchildren, Zoey Davis, Easton Davis, and Avianna Jordan; brother, Richard and his sisters, Yvonne Brown Faccinto of CT, and Bonnie Brown Tucker of FL.
