Mrs. Lillian Iona Howell, 89, of Albany passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015 in Albany. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 23, 2015 in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home. Rev. Tab Howell and Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate with interment to follow at 2:30 at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Meigs. Born May 8, 1926 in Moultrie, Mrs. Howell was the daughter of the late Bernard Carson King and Nomie Hall King. She worked for many years with Dougherty County Tag and Tax office. She enjoyed oil painting, working in her yard and spending time with her loved ones. She was a faithful member of Sunnyside Baptist Church for many years along with her husband, William LeRoy Howell who served as Dougherty County’s police chief. In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, Mrs. Howell was preceded in death by her brothers, Horace and Lewis King; sisters, Earlene Curley and Joyce Bevins. Survivors include her sons, and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Ruby Howell and Donnie Howell all of Albany; brothers and sister-in-law, Raymond and Mary King of Albany and Melvin King of Moultrie; sister, Barbara Bowers of Moultrie; grandchildren, Leigh Ann Edmunds of Albany, Wayne H. Howell, Jr. of Acworth and Kellie Elizabeth Koehler of Lee County and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2015 at Hall and Hall Funeral Home.
