Marie E. Stamps

Mrs. Marie E. Stamps, 80, of Albany, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Phoebe Sumter Hospital in Americus. 

Services are private for the family only. 

Born October 28, 1943, in Atlanta, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Louise (Hester) Rainwater. She moved to Leesburg in 1957 and married her husband Cecil in 1961. She worked for the Albany Rec department and was a Special Olympics coordinator. She dedicated over 40 years of service to the Special Olympics in Georgia and was passionate about her work. Mrs. Stamps was of the Baptist faith and attended Mercedes Baptist when she was able. A loving wife, mother, “Meme”, and sister, she will be greatly missed by all. 

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of 63 years, Cecil D. Stamps Sr.; children, Dewey Stamps, and Regina Mercer (Stan); sisters, Pat Beckwith and Diane Glidwell; three grandchildren, Dustin Stamps, Beverly S. Keaton, and Daniel Mercer; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. 

Hall and Hall Funeral Home was given the honor to serve the Stamps family.
