Mrs. Matrid Wayfer Turner, 88, of Albany passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Graveside funeral services honoring the life of Mrs. Turner will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the graveside of Crown Hill Cemetery. Reverend Chris E. Turner will officiate. Mrs. Turner was born December 15, 1921 in Quitman, GA to the late, Walter Hamilton and Ida Mae Ross Hamilton. She worked for many years in textile, enjoyed quilting, embroidering and cooking. She loved watching the Atlanta Braves and her main enjoyment in life was being with her family. Mrs. Turner attended Lighthouse Ministries of Putney. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Edward Turner and her great-grandson, D.J. Vinson. Survivors include her daughters, Annie Osborne of Albany, Patricia Moore and husband, Paul of Old Saybrook, CT, and Matrid Elizabeth Bailey and husband, Glenn of Sylvester; sister, Virginia Bass and husband, Von of Pelham; seven grandchildren, Ricky Osborne, Beth Vinson, Patti Barber, Pam Konarkowski, Priscilla Moore, Dwayne Bailey and Andrew Bailey; 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Hall and Hall Funeral Home.
