Mildred (Brooks) Draper

June 13, 1929 — July 18, 2013

Mrs. Mildred Brooks Draper, 84, of Albany went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 18, 2013 while surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 22, 2013 at Victory Tabernacle Assembly of God. Pastor Eddie Adams will officiate with interment to follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Worth County. Born June 13, 1929, in Worth County, Mrs. Draper was the daughter of the late John Thomas Brooks and the late Ila Hancock. For many years she worked at Lee County Manufacturing and was a long time member of East Albany Baptist Church. She always had a servant’s heart and served in pastoral care at Crossroads Full Gospel Church where her daughter Carol and son-in-law, A.B. were pastors. She enjoyed cooking and the family especially loved her “famous chicken and dumplings.” The grandchildren and others stated that the cards and letters over the years lead them to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Heaven is now sweeter with her there and our loss is truly Heaven’s gain. Survivors include her sons, Thomas Benjamin Draper, Jr. and wife, Mary Jean of Leesburg, Ernie Draper of Leesburg and Bruce Draper of Sylvester; daughters, Faye Everson of Baconton, Pastor Carol and Pastor A.B. Stroud of Leesburg, Nancy and Larry Summerlin of Leesburg, Cindy and Charles Young of Smithville and Debbie and Aaron Carney of Baconton; brothers, Floyd and Celia Brooks of Worth County and Ernest and Erlene Brooks of Worth County; sisters, Ann and Wendell Apperson of Macon and Sue and Kent Potts of Sylvester; 25 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Draper was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Benjamin Draper Sr.; son, Donnie Draper; brother, Ben Brooks; sisters, Alberta Massey and Jean Griffith. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 21, 2013 from 3-5 PM at Hall and Hall Funeral Home. Hall and Hall Funeral Home of Albany is in charge of the arrangements. 229-883-3864
