Mrs. Mildred Mize McCorvey, 77, of Worth County, passed away Friday, November 9, 2012 at Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Mitchell County. Rev. Ricky Griner will officiate with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Born February 28, 1935 in Cook County, Mrs. McCorvey was the daughter of the late Claude Mize and Retha Connell Taylor. She worked as a bus driver for thirty-three years with the Dougherty County School System. Mrs. McCorvey was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Mitchell County. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McCorvey was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, Nash “Evans” McCorvey that passed away on August 16, 2012. Survivors include her son, Ronald McCorvey of Albany; daughter, Sue Howard of Sylvester; one brother Lamar Taylor of Phenix City, AL; four sisters, Lynn Bailey, Brenda Rowland, Weida “Billy Jack” May and Elaine Stone all of Nashville, GA.; seven grandchildren, Sonya Lynn Chambers of Charleston, SC, Stacy (Mike) Hazelrigg of Jacksonville, FL, April (Chris) Bentley of Leesburg, GA, Neysa (Clay) Brogdon of Crawfordville, FL, Justin Howard of Albany, GA, Josh McCorvey of Sylvester, GA and Tabitha (Robert) Baker of Albany, GA and seven great-grandchildren, Karmen Davis, Nash Harrell of Leesburg, GA, Douglas and Dana Hazelrigg of Jacksonville, FL, Trenton Brogdon of Crawfordville, FL, Bethany Wren and Nastassia Vincent of Albany, GA. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 2 until 3 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
