Miriam Kaimi Sanders was born on December 12, 1934, in Honolulu, Hawaii to Edward Ah Yat and Victoria Carr Ah Yat. She had the honor to be a member of Hale o Na Ali’i o Hawaii. She shared her heritage and childhood through animated stories of her elders, siblings, children, school, and workplaces on her beloved islands. She was a talented storyteller and entertainer with a wonderful laugh and smile.

She married her loving husband Bobby N. Sanders and moved around our beautiful county as he was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps for 28 years. His last duty station became the place that they called home near the USMC Logistics Base in Albany, GA.She will forever be remembered as a mother, teacher, volunteer, and philanthropist.Following her husband’s retirement from military service, she enjoyed riding in the RV to visit National Parks. Her interests included history, sewing/crafting, reading, card/board games, sudoku puzzles, and taking memorable trips - including “cruising” frequently to the Caribbean and Bahamas. She had a passion for children and those with disabilities; volunteering for approximately 30 years around the City of Albany in groups such as the RSVP Teddy Bear Sewers and The Silent Singers. However, nothing compared to the passion, pride, and love she had for her family. Treasured family photos can be found on every shelf in her house.

She was preceded in death by her husband MGySgt. Bobby N. Sanders, USMC, and a son, Frederick Brezee.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Christine Brezee of Hawaii, Earl Brezee and Elaine of Nevada, Bobby James Sanders and Mirla of California, and Wesley Scott Sanders and Jill of South Carolina; and 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
