Nellie Haire (Mckinnon) Blackburn

Mrs. Nellie Haire Blackburn, 82, of Albany, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 27, 2014. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Liberty Parkway Church of God, 1501 Schley Ave. Albany GA. Pastor Ralph Horne and Rev. W.A. Bingham will officiate with interment to follow in the Crown Hill Cemetery. Born May 10, 1931 in Blakely, Mrs. Blackburn was the daughter of the late Edward McKinnon and Niza Lee DuBose McKinnon. She worked for many years at Flint River Cotton Mill, MacGregor Golf Company and Wal-Mart. She had a love for gardening and flowers. Mrs. Blackburn was a faithful and dedicated member of Liberty Parkway Church of God for over fifty years. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Blackburn was preceded in death by two husbands, Ralph “Jack” Haire and James Blackburn; granddaughter, Nicole Broxton; brother, Bo McKinnon and sister, Louise Houston. Survivors include her daughters, Jackie Church of Leesburg, FL., Janice and Michael Broxton of Albany; grandchildren, Melissa (Tony) Haire, Misty (Jason) Pate and Mike Broxton; great-grandchildren, Ben Wilson and Justin Swiger. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Friday, January 31, 2014 at Liberty Parkway Church of God.
