Mr. Ollie Alfred Dyess, 78, of Worth County, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Bethel Holiness Church in Putney. The Reverend Noah Phillips, Reverend Kendal Ward and Reverend Jason Blalock will officiate. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery in Moultrie. Born September 29, 1932 in Poulan, Mr. Dyess was the son of the late Jack Dyess and Mattie Williford Dyess. He served his country in the United States Navy and had worked as an insurance appraiser for several years. Mr. Dyess loved music and began playing guitar at the age of six years old. There was time in his life before he met the Lord that he played professionally in Nashville. He was a member of Bethel Holiness Church where he played the guitar. Survivors include his wife, Martha Key Dyess; sons, Jerry and Cindy Dyess of Leesburg, Terry and Trisha Dyess of Bridgeboro and Michael Dyess of Putney; daughters, Sherrie Phillips of Mitchell County and Carrie and Derek Webb of Sparks; special nephew, Jimmie and Linda Willis; grandchildren, Larry and Beth Phillips, Isaac Phillips, Courtney, Brook and Jerry, Jr. Dyess, Jason and Jessica Blalock, Corey and Christie Dyess, Cody and Jessi Dyess, Chase and Daren Webb; great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Benjamin and Cole. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 at Bethel Holiness Church, 4621 Radium Springs Road.
