Phyllis M. Simpson died May 29, 2015 at her home on Hilton Head Island S.C. surrounded by her loving family. She was of the Catholic faith. She was born on September 27, 1926 in Lynn MA and after her marriage to Charles E. Simpson in 1947, she spent her life traveling the world as an Air Force wife. In 1959 her husband was stationed at Turner AFB and a few years later Albany is where they retired. She was a loving wife and mother who was dedicated to her six children. She was a leader of Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, a Room Mother, PTA President, neighborhood babysitter, Kool-Aid Queen and she played a mean game of jacks. She lost her husband in 1988 and became the have bags will travel Nana. Spending time with her children and grandchildren for summers, holidays, spring breaks or sick days, she was always on stand-bye. To cherish her loving memories she leaves, her daughters Irene Simpson, Mary Simpson McRee (Ed) of Albany, Tish Simpson Sapp (Wayne) of Saint Petersburg FL and sons Michael Simpson and Brian Simpson of Hilton Head Island SC. Grandchildren Roger Reksten Melissa Simpson Merritt, James Edwin (Tripp) McRee all of Albany, Todd Simpson of Orlando FL, Katie McRee of Valdosta, Charlie Simpson and Hannah Simpson of Hilton Head Island SC. and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles E. Simpson, her granddaughter Holli A. Reksten and her oldest son Charles E. Simpson Jr. who died on May 28th 2015 the day before her passing. Her remains have been cremated and a private memorial service will be held. Instead of flowers the family would ask that you do an unexpected act of kindness in her honor.
