Phyllis (Meek) Powell

Mrs. Phyllis Meek Powell, 62, of Sylvester, passed away, Friday, February 6, 2015 at her home. Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at East Albany Church of God. Rev. Tommy Powell, Dr. Clifton Elmore and Rev. Mark Fulford will officiate with interment to follow at Floral Memory Gardens. Born February 13, 1952, at Fort McPherson in Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. Powell was the daughter of the late Fred Meek Sr. and Dale Cannon Meek. She was a homemaker and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, baking cakes, music, dance, and playing scratch offs. Mrs. Powell was also a member of East Albany Church of God. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald “Ron” Powell that passed away on April 27, 2014, and a brother, Fred Meek Jr. Survivors include her son, Xevi “Little Ronny Powell” Meek of Sylvester; her daughter, Jennifer Hudson of Sylvester ; brothers and sister-in-law, Larry and Penny Meek of Lake Park, and Jack Meek of Sylvester; sister, Mary Anne and Bobby Pelham of Sylvester; and grandchildren, Zack Hudson and Lexi Hudson. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening, February 10, 2015 at Hall and Hall Funeral Home.
