Ralph Thompson

Mr. Ralph Thompson, 82, of Sylvester, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Antioch Baptist Church in Sylvester. Revs. Bruce Gordon and Josh Duckworth will officiate with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Born September 18, 1935 in Quitman, Mr. Thompson was the son of the late J.T. and Connie Strickland Thompson. He served his country in the Army and retired as a supervisor with Coats and Clark having worked at both the Albany and Douglas plants. Mr. Thompson was an avid Atlanta Falcons fan, enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. In his younger years he enjoyed dancing and waterskiing. He loved his family and loved to entertain them with yarns and storytelling. In addition to his parents, Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria Faye Tharpe Thompson and grandson, Adam Giddens. Survivors include his wife, Linda Thompson; children, Terry Giddens of Sylvester, Tammy McCrary and David of Albany and Becky West and Terry of Albany; grandchildren, Will and Julie Giddens of Sylvester, Katie Giddens and Matt of Sylvester and Tabatha Bensonhaver and Aaron of Ocala, FL and 4 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Flint River Habitat for Humanity, The Alzheimer’s Association or Marty Lyons Foundation.
