Rev. Alan Kirby, 59, of Albany, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2019 surrounded by his loving family at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at New Hope Full Gospel Church in Sylvester. Rev. Kenneth Thompson, Rev. Donnie Wilkes, and Rev. Oscar Whiteside will officiate the service. Born September 12, 1960, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Rev. Kirby was the son of the late William and Georgette Kirby. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy where he retired. He went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree in education Theology with a minor in early childhood education from South Florida Bible College and worked for many years preaching the word of God. In his free time he enjoyed fishing and camping in his RV. More than anything he loved The Lord, his wife and his family. He was a member of New Hope Full Gospel Church in Sylvester. In addition to his parents, Rev. Kirby was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Billy, Tanner, Hunter Lee, and Teela; and sister, Ginger. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Brenda Kirby; children, Rhonda Hopkins, Leon Kirby and his wife Anita, and Martin Kirby and his wife Cameron; grandchildren, Laka, Dylan, Trent, Treanor, and Isaiah; 11 siblings, Arthur Kirby (Monica), Laura Kirby, Lillian Kirby, William Kirby (Patricia), Bruce Kirby (Jocelyn), Lawrence Kirby (Sheila), Jeffrey Kirby (Anne), Helen Kirby-Medeiros (Henry), Robert Kirby (Dawn), Jane Kirby (Warren Pansire), and James Kirby (Stephanie).
