Mr. Robert Horace Freeman, 91, of Albany, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Willson Hospice House. The funeral mass will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Monday August 3, 2015 at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church. The interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Andersonville National Cemetery with military honors. Born November 28, 1923, in Bladenboro, N. C., Mr. Freeman was the son of the late Clyde and Mami Bullard Freeman. Mr. Freeman moved to Albany in 1960 and completed 24 years active duty with The United States Marine Corps in 1964. He reached the rank of first lieutenant and was a known as a distinguished shape shooter with rifles and pistols in the military. He was a member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church and will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. In addition to his parents, Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by his brothers, Elbert and Dewey Freeman and his grandson, Justin Moye. Survivors include his loving wife, Virginia Bell Freeman; daughters, Joan Dupre of Albany, Judith Smith of Ft. Walton Beach, FL. and Joyce Moye and husband, Jeff Moye of Leesburg; brothers, Ralph, Adrain and Paul and Wylma Freeman; sisters, Edith Harris, and Marjorie Bridger; grandchildren, Robert Depre, John Depre and Kathryn , Carlos Eribez , Megan Childress and Jeff, Brandon Smith and Jake Moye; 3 great- grandchildren, Braden, Mikaela and Jeffrey; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends in the gathering room from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church.
