Mr. Robert Jennings Stokes, 77, of Albany, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, September 12, 2014. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM, Monday, September 15, 2014 at First Southern Methodist Church 2510 Hilltop Dr, Albany, GA 31707. Rev. William Rawls will officiate with interment to follow at Floral Memory Gardens. Born September 4, 1937 in Milledgeville, Mr. Stokes was the son of the late Gordon Richard Stokes and Jurdie Lee Davis Stokes. He worked at Coats and Clark for over twenty years and then retired from Miller Brewer Company after twenty years. He enjoyed singing in the choir at his church, fishing, shooting his pistil and walking his dog, Buster. He was a member of First Southern Methodist Church and The H2u Club in which he enjoyed singing with the other members. His family was his life and he will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stokes was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Madison Stokes who passed away on August 28, 2012. Survivors include his sons, Greg Stokes (Janet Jahn) of Tallahassee, FL and Steve Stokes (Janine) of Leesburg; daughter, Elaine Stokes Carter of Albany; grandchildren, Jessica Carter Wilkes (Shane) of Leesburg, Stephanie Stokes Lanier (Roy) of Albany, Alicia Creel (James) of Leesburg, Blake Stokes (Summer) of Leesburg and Evan Stokes of Leesburg; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Sara Wilkes of Leesburg, Natalie and Sam Lanier of Albany, Paige and Zach Creel of Leesburg. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 14, 2014 from 6 till 8 p.m. at Hall and Hall Funeral Home.
