Mr. Robert L. Palmer, 85, of Albany, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Magnolia Manor in Americus.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 20, 2023, in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Gary Brady officiating. Following the service he will be laid to rest in Floral Memory Gardens.
Born February 8, 1936, in Highland Park, Illinois, he was the son of the late Charles Palmer and Esther Morgan Palmer. After graduating from Highland Park High School he enlisted in the military where he proudly served our country in the United States Navy as a boiler operator. He later went to work as a heating engineer for the Chicago Catholic schools then for the Chicago Club downtown from where he retired. Once he retired, Robert relocated to Albany, GA to be close to his brother Ron. He was a member of Christ Church of Albany formerly known as Christ United Methodist Church of Albany. Robert enjoyed serving in the prison ministry, going for walks, reading, and will be greatly missed by those who loved and knew him.
Survivors include his brother, Ronald Palmer of Albany; and special friends, Rev. Fred Reiner and Darlene Reiner of Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert’s memory to Christ Church of Albany at 505 Byron Plantation Road, Albany, GA 31721.
