Mr. Rodney H. Blaylock Jr., 71, of Albany , went home to be with Jesus on Monday, August 25, 2014. Memorial services will be held Friday, August 29, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. at Free Life Church , 217 W Residence Ave. Rev. Mark Fulford will officiate. Born March 18, 1943, Rodney was born to the late Rodney Houston Blaylock Sr. and Ellen Varner Stevens Blaylock. He served his country in the United States Army and obtained the rank of 1st Sgt. E-8. He was a paratrooper and served three tours in the Vietnam Era. Rodney served as a missionary in Honduras and Guatemala for over twenty years. He was known as a very hard worker and his wife says that he was her friend, love and also brother in Christ. He loved fishing, hunting and was an avid reader. He was kind to everyone and loved the Lord Jesus with all his heart. He was a faithful member of Free Life Church . Survivors include his loving wife of ten years, Valorie McCorkle Blaylock; son, Robert and Marie Blaylock of Atlanta; daughters, Kelly Blaylock of Wildwood, FL and Laura Scott of Albany; brothers, Eddie and Connie Blaylock of Macon , Mike Blaylock of Albany and Dana Blaylock of California; two grandchildren, Tristen Blaylock of Atlanta and Jayden Scott of Albany; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Blaylock was preceded in death by his sister, Diana Flood The family will receive friends following the service at the Church.
