Mrs. Sandra D. Hammond, 58, of Albany passed away at her daughter’s residence on May 23, 2014. Funeral services for Mrs. Hammond will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2014 in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home. Rev. Jimmy Hagadorn and Rev. Randolph Pate will officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Albany. Born October 5, 1955 in Sylvester, Mrs. Hammond was the daughter of the late Lewis Duckworth and Lilly Lee Brooks Duckworth. She worked for many years in the dry cleaning and laundry industry. Mrs. Hammond loved crocheting, her dog Jennifer and her cats, but she ‘greatly disliked’ lizards and snakes. She was of the Christian faith and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Shelby and Robbie Varnadoe of Pelham, Sylvia and Shane Estevez of Sylvester, and Jewell and Nate Amos of Sylvester; son and daughter-in-law, William and Rebecca Cosby of Albany; her brother Elton Duckworth of Albany; her sisters and brother-in-law, Jewell McCarty of Albany, Helen Weldon of Palmetto, FL, and Shirley and Jimmy Patterson of Albany, five grandsons and ten granddaughters. The family will receive friends at Hall and Hall Funeral Home on Sunday, May 25, between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hall and Hall Funeral Home in Mrs. Hammond’s name.
