Sara Nell (Maddox) Merritt

February 15, 1925 — May 8, 2012

Mrs. Sara Nell Maddox Merritt, 87, of Marietta and formerly of Albany passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 11, 2012 in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home. Dr. Thomas Tippett and Rev. Jeff Hines will officiate with interment to follow at Floral Memory Gardens. Mrs. Merritt was born February 15, 1925, in Pitts, daughter of the late Fredrick Carlton Maddox and the late Flossie Cornelia Dorsey Maddox. She graduated from Grady in 1941 and received her training as a Register Nurse. She owned and operated for many years Mother Goose Nursery. Mrs. Merritt was a member of Ft. Gains First Baptist Church and in earlier years she was a member of Acree First Baptist Church. Survivors include her sons, Phillip and Donna Benson of Hahira and William Marshall Merritt Sr. of Marietta; daughter, Sara Denise Merritt of Marietta; sister, Harriette Elizabeth Maddox Morton of Marietta; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Hall Hall Funeral Home.
