Sarah Mae (Reese) Barfield

Mrs. Sarah Mae Hammack Barfield, 80, of Leesburg, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 1, 2015 at Philema Road Baptist Church, 114 Stocks Dairy Rd. Leesburg, GA. 31763. Pastor Dan Harris and Johnny White will officiate with interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery. Born May 26, 1934 in Randolph County, Mrs. Barfield was the daughter of the late James Reese, Sr. and Lillie Mae Wooten Reese. She was a homemaker and member of Philema Road Baptist Church. Survivors include her children, “Marty” William Hammack of Leesburg; daughters and son-in-law, Gloria Fox of Leesburg and Carolyn Ann and Tommy Weeks of Leesburg; brothers, Jimmy Reese, Jr. of Springvale and Edwin Reese of Cuthbert; sisters, Mary Nell Walker of Idaho and Ellen Kibbee of Sylvester; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barfield was preceded in death by her sons, Terry Dean Hammack, Roger Dale Hammack and Michael Hammack; daughter, Christine Young; brother, James Reese, Jr.; sister, Bertha Kelly and son-in-law, Mike Fox. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
